Our story

In September of 2007, Flo met Gary outside of her class through a mutual friend. Gary aka 'rageguy' was an introverted third year Computer Science student. He was your typical gadget-loving computer geek and an original Apple-fanboy (before iPhones existed). Flo was a first year Psychology student, excited about reaching her legal drinking age and making new friends. She loved fashion and was an OG-foodie, eating out and posting foodporn before hashtags and smart phones even existed.

After many late night study sessions together, Gary asked Flo out on a date. On their first date, Gary took Flo out cruising (another one of Gary's hobbies) to Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. They would order McDonalds drive-thru and hang out for hours, even watching the sunrise together.

Flo found Gary's blunt, rational and methodological attitude genuine and reliable and his sense of humour quirky. If it wasn't for Gary, Flo would never have started her career in IT where they worked as students together at the Arts Help Desk. Gary thought Flo was pretty and had an appetite 10 times bigger than her size. If it wasn't for Flo, Gary would never have put on a few healthy pounds and tasted as much delicious food as he has now (they both do not enjoy cooking).

As the years went by, they shared their love for food, electronic music and travel together. Having been to Ultra Miami, Ultra Croatia and Paradiso at the Gorge, they have a list of music festivals around the world they want to experience after the wedding, starting with Tomorrowland in Belgium.

The Proposal

In March 2016, Flo went on a girls trip to her favourite city in the world: New York. Little did she know that Gary had been planning the surprise of a life time. On one foggy night, the haggard, tired and flu-stricken Flo was unwilling to go to Top of the Rock with her friends. After much convincing (apparently, there was a lunar eclipse that could only be seen at the top), Flo went up 70 floors. She did not regret it but wished she wasn't in an oversized hoodie with no make up on. Because of the weather, there was no one else but the two of them and they had their New York moment surrounded by a few friends. They left the Top of the Rock engaged and Flo had a rock of her own.

No one else could possibly know Flo as well as Hayley; Her strict Korean upbringing gave her a strong-will to work hard and play later; Flo has Hayley to thank for always pushing her to do her best. Alex Nam

Best Man
Alex and Gary met working at the Arts Help Desk together when they were students at UBC. Both share a love of Whiskey and Old Fashioned. They both live by one motto: “Never retreat, never surrender.” This has gotten the both of them in a lot of trouble that they don't remember. If Gary needed help, Alex would be there no-questions-asked. What they share can only be described as a true Bromance.

...

Kristopher Lau

Groomsman
Kris met Gary partying a few years ago. They became friends because they both shared a fun-loving attitude. They're usually the last ones standing at the end of the night even if it means Gary is sitting by the side of the road. When Kris is on a date with Flo and Gary, which was very often, he thinks Flo is the third wheeler. Kris even accompanied Gary to New York for his proposal and is a true definition of a ride or die.

Jack Ng

Groomsman
Jack and Gary met in high school. In fact, they almost got into a fight in grade 8 because of the way Gary looked at him. Since then their friendship has stood the test of time and Jack has travelled to Hong Kong, Phuket, Miami, LA and Vegas with Flo and Gary.
